Mrs. Hoffman & School Counseling
During the elementary years students begin to develop their academic self-concept and their feelings of competence and confidence as learners. They are beginning to develop decision-making, communication, and life skills. It is a time when children develop and acquire attitudes toward school, self, peers, social groups, and family.
A comprehensive developmental school counseling program provides education, prevention, and intervention services, which are integrated into all aspects of children's lives. The knowledge, attitudes, and skills that children acquire in the areas of academic, personal, and social development during their elementary years serve as a foundation for future success.
At Sylvan Elementary, I offer a variety of services and programs that promote student growth and enhance social emotional learning. My job as a school counselor is to help children manage a healthy balance among their academic, personal, and social lives.
